Lead 102 - Minor Pentatonic Scale
As discussed previously, the minor pentatonic scale is your basic scale for playing over minor chords, or II, III, and VI chords.
The minor pentatonic scale, does have some awesome uses in blues, etc. which we will get into later, but for now, think of them as the go-to scale for playing over minor chords.
As always, it’s important to try all five patterns of the scale and try it in many different keys.
Practice it with a metronome at first, and once you have the shapes down, begin to work out each of the shapes and find some licks that sound good.
Practice with the jam tracks and get a feel for the minor pentatonic scale. Find your licks, and try and find the same licks in different keys!
Attached are the 5 patterns of the minor pentatonic scale. For this video let’s see them in 2 different keys!
