Gibson ES-335 Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar

February 25th, 2009 by Jack Rock

gibIn 1958, Gibson created a guitar that combined solid body performance with hollow body tradition to bridge the gap between the two. That guitar was the Gibson ES-335 and is recognized today as one of the favorite hollow body guitar designs of all time. The ES-335 handles rock well, but where the Gibson Classic ES-335 Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar excels at is the awesome fat, authentic, true blues and R&B tones it is able to generate. A sweet old-school tone emanates from this beast. It lacks the versatility of a Strat, but if warm overtones and enchanting harmonics are what you're looking for, then this is a perfect choice for you. Comfortable and lightweight design make it easy for long gigs. Price makes it more suitable for intermediate to advanced players. You do not want to drop this much cash on  a short-lived hobby. Features include curly maple/poplar/curly maple laminated maple body, maple center block with spruce contour blocks, 1960's style slim tapered one-piece mahogany neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets and pearloid dot inlays, creme binding on top, back and fingerboard, two '57 Classic humbucker pickups, 3-way toggle, independent volume and tone knobs, and sealed Grover tuners.

Known for its outstanding playability and unrivaled unique tone, the Gibson Classic ES-335 Semi-Hollow Body is a great guitar. Classically great looking and powerful, this guitar will not disappoint. So, if you yearn for the old-school hollow body tone that is simply great-sounding, then the Gibson ES-335 is definitely for you. To find yours today, take a look below. Just remember, that this guitar does one thing really well, it is not a full chameleon of tone.

Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster

February 20th, 2009 by Jack Rock

eriReleased in 2005, the much anticipated Eric Johnson Stratocaster has received high praises ever since. It is extremely easy to see why with all of its vintage feel and Strat appeal. This guitar was designed by Eric Johnson himself and includes many of his personal features and preferences. With a boatload of customizations, this guitar plays and feels a lot more like a custom-shop guitar than the moderately priced production-line guitar that it is. Playability and comfort are top notch as well. Features include a deep contoured two-piece '57 style lightweight alder body, one-piece quartersawn soft "V" shape vintage tinted maple neck, 12" radius maple fingerboard with 21 highly polished medium jumbo frets, extra smooth neck to headstock volute, '57 style body cavities, staggered vintage style tuners, vintage style tremolo with silver painted block and 1957 style string recess, and three special design Eric Johnson pickups with countersunk mounting screws.

Fender Highway One Stratocaster (Upgrade)

February 13th, 2009 by Jack Rock

fenThe Fender Highway One Strat Upgrade Electric ?Guitar was released in 2006.  Constructed with '70's inspired styling and contemporary functionality, the Highway One Strat is a no-nonsense beast loaded with just enough extras.  Features are nice including the original alder body design, large '70's style headstock logo and shape, mahogany modern "C" shape neck, rosewood or maple fingerboard, master volume and two tone controls, set of "hot" single-coil pickups with Alnico 3 magnets, reverse wound/reverse polarity middle pickup, 5-way pickup switching system, Greasebucket tone circuit on neck and bridge pickups, and vintage style synchronized tremolo bridge.

The Fender Highway One Stratocaster Upgrade will be the perfect guitar for most players; however, a few may not find it comfortable to play in the neck area (fat neck with enormous frets).  The satin nitrocellulose lacquer body finish provides this guitar with unbelievable sustain.  Gives you a well-balanced tone that is warm, rich, and glassy with high gain .  With a fast neck and high playability, the Highway One Stratocaster is a guitar for anyone.  Not too much to look at with a no-frills appearance, but it is a Strat, and these were meant to be played, not to be put on display.  Even with their superb quality, the Highway One Stratocaster Upgrade is Fender's least expensive Strat perfect for those who have craved to own the great American Stratocaster, but could not afford the high price tag. This guitar is Fender Stratocaster quality and should age wonderfully.

Below are eBay listings for this guitar.
