Perfect for on-stage perfoming, the Telecaster Thinline has all the twang and spank that a Telecaster should, but with a warmer, more rounded tone than its heavier counterpart. Fender Highway One Stratocaster (Upgrade)

February 13th, 2009 by Jack Rock

fenThe Fender Highway One Strat Upgrade Electric ?Guitar was released in 2006.  Constructed with '70's inspired styling and contemporary functionality, the Highway One Strat is a no-nonsense beast loaded with just enough extras.  Features are nice including the original alder body design, large '70's style headstock logo and shape, mahogany modern "C" shape neck, rosewood or maple fingerboard, master volume and two tone controls, set of "hot" single-coil pickups with Alnico 3 magnets, reverse wound/reverse polarity middle pickup, 5-way pickup switching system, Greasebucket tone circuit on neck and bridge pickups, and vintage style synchronized tremolo bridge.

The Fender Highway One Stratocaster Upgrade will be the perfect guitar for most players; however, a few may not find it comfortable to play in the neck area (fat neck with enormous frets).  The satin nitrocellulose lacquer body finish provides this guitar with unbelievable sustain.  Gives you a well-balanced tone that is warm, rich, and glassy with high gain .  With a fast neck and high playability, the Highway One Stratocaster is a guitar for anyone.  Not too much to look at with a no-frills appearance, but it is a Strat, and these were meant to be played, not to be put on display.  Even with their superb quality, the Highway One Stratocaster Upgrade is Fender's least expensive Strat perfect for those who have craved to own the great American Stratocaster, but could not afford the high price tag. This guitar is Fender Stratocaster quality and should age wonderfully.

Gibson Epiphone G-400 SG Electric Guitar

February 10th, 2009 by Jack Rock

epiEpiphone, owned by Gibson, made an affordable alternative to the highly sought after 1962 edition of the Gibson SG, which is known as one of rock-n-roll's mainstays since the electric guitar was first introduced.  This guitar beautifully replicates the 1962 model of the Gibson SG in sound and appearance.  Like its predecessor, this guitar has a lot of power, bite, unbelievable sound, and everlasting sustain.   A deep, well-balanced, rich tone is versatile enough to handle many types of musics, but is best when used for hard rock or metal.  No significant difference from an actual Gibson...only the price.   It comes with all the essentials of the Gibson 1962 SG that have made it a legend in the guitar world.  It is very comfortable and easy to play, so it is suitable for beginners.  The guitar is extremely lightweight, and as the frets get lower, the neck gets thinner.  This makes the fretboard very fast and very nice.  The SG body style allows for easy access to the higher frets.

The Epiphone G-400 SG Electric Guitar offers many top-quality controls you find only on more expensive guitars.  Features include solid mahogany SG style body, set mahogany neck, slim-tapered neck profile, rosewood fretboard, pearl trapezoid inlays, twin Alnico V humbucker pickups, chrome Tune-O-Matic bridge, and two volume and control knobs with a three way selector switch.

Favored by rock icons over the years, the Gibson SG ranks highly among classic guitars.  The Epiphone simply makes the iconic guitar affordable.  Playability, sound, and looks are almost exact to the Gibson SG model it was designed after, so if you are looking for a hard-rocking guitar on a budget, then the Epiphone G-400 SG Electric Guitar is a good choice for you.
